OldieLyrics.com - Song Lyrics From The 60s, 70s and 80s

Thursday, 31 July 2008
I find it a little disheartening that the 80s are considered the 'oldies'.  But that aside, if you are looking for song lyrics from the 80s as well as the 60s and 70s, I recommend oldielyrics.com.

Just type in the song you need the lyrics to and click search.  You can find songs by Blondie, Kenny Loggins, Prince, ABBA, Rick Springfield, John Mellencamp, Peter Gabriel and many more.

If you can't remember song lyrics for 'One Way Or Another', Rock Around The Clock, Caribbean Queen and Rosanna, you'll find them at Oldie Lyrics.

You can find song lyrics by Led Zeppelin, Journey, Meat Loaf and the Eagles.  So you can find the lyrics to 'Stairway To Heaven', 'It Just Won't Quit', 'Hotel California' and 'Lights'.

Go to oldielyrics.com and search for your favorite song lyrics.  One of my favorite songs is the Eagles'  'Hotel California', and the lyrics are really kind of funny for this song.

What is your favorite song?  We would love to hear it!  Hope to hear from you.

The Smoking Gun Presents: World's Dumbest...

Thursday, 31 July 2008

If you haven't checked out truTV.com yet, you have to go now!  Click on the video section and sit back, enjoy and laugh your a** off.

Tonight on truTV at 9 p.m. The Smoking gun Presents:  World's Dumbest Competitions 2

The show's description says, "We’ve searched high and low to find 20 more of the most pointless contests in the world; including sex doll river rafting, pulling cars with penises (men only), a captivating beauty pageant for female prisoners, a high stakes game of “rocks, paper, scissors”, and sumo wrestlers trying to make babies cry (it’s not hard).

And let’s not forget The World Championships of Mosquito Killing (many mosquitoes were harmed during this making of this event). The only winners in these competitions are the people who don’t take part in them. Naturally all contests will be judged, scored and belittled by our celebrity commentators, including Danny Bonaduce, Todd Bridges, Tonya Harding and Leif Garrett."

And better yet on August 7, 2008 truTV airs The Smoking Gun Presents:  World's Dumbest Criminals 3.

"If you are really stupid and want to commit a crime, be sure - like all of the criminals featured in this show – to do it in front of a camera. Viewers will delight in seeing bad guys making simple mistakes that cost them their freedom. Whether its getting stuck in a ventilation shaft, falling through the ceiling of a liquor store and landing on the merchandise, or holding up a convenience store and making the small mistake of putting the gun down on the counter so the cashier can aim it at you and make you run away."

If you want a good laugh do yourself a favor and go to truTV.com.

Water On Mars - The Phoenix Mars Lander Struck Water

Thursday, 31 July 2008

The Phoenix Mars Lander has found conclusive proof of the presence of water on Mars -- NASA's Phoenix Mars Lander has identified the white substance to be frozen water.

It was feared that the ice was CO2 (dry ice).  The Phoenix melted the ice and tasted it.

This is exciting news, especially to the science community.  The Red Planet is offering hope and the Phoenix's mission got extended for five more weeks.

For those who believe there is life on Mars...well now it is more possible then ever.

You can read more about the discovery at The Independent.

Last Comic Standing - Iliza Shlesinger Is My Pick

Thursday, 31 July 2008

I personally love Iliza Shlesinger!  I think she is hilarious and I hope she wins Last Comic Standing.  She is the only female left on the reality show.  I think she is the funniest of the finalists.

Iliza Shlesinger had her first solo stand-up gig back when she was a junior in college. She wrote a forty-five minute one-man show and performed it in front of the students.  But her first professional gig as a stand-up comedian happened three years ago at an Italian restaurant in Los Angeles.

Iliza has a myspace page; check it out and wish her good luck.  You can watch Iliza on Last Comic Standing tonight, July 31, 2008, on NBC at 8 p.m.  The winner will  receive a contract with NBC Universal and a Bravo Special.

Who do you think will win Last Comic Standing?  Let us know.  We hope to hear from you!

Pamela Anderson - 'Pam: Girl On The Loose'

Thursday, 31 July 2008

She was referred to as an 'Iconic blond bombshell' by Matt Lauer on the Today Show yesterday.  Today she is on The View doing her publicity thing for her  new reality show / documentary 'Pam:  Girl on the Loose'.  Anderson says that it is the perfect vehicle for her to draw attention to things that are important to her, like animal rights.

I do commend Pamela for keeping her kids out of the limelight.  She says that she made that clear right up front that her kids were to never be on camera.

Pamela got her start from the sitcom Home Improvement but made it big from Baywatch.

She appears to lead a somewhat normal life.  She doesn't have a nanny or housekeeper, she carpools... all the normal soccer mom stuff.

She says, "women can do it all; woman are tough."  She says her mom did it all...why can't she.  I have always thought Pamela Anderson to be a beautiful woman and although she comes off a bit ditzy at times...she is one smart woman!

The thing I like about her is her ability to poke fun at herself.  She has a great sense of humor.

Check your local listings for day and time of Pam:  Girl on the Loose, on the E channel.

Woman Suing Husband For 25 Million Dollars Over STD

Thursday, 31 July 2008

A woman is irate with her husband for giving her a sexually transmitted disease and is suing him.  A Manhattan woman has filed a $25 million lawsuit against her allegedly hooker-loving husband, charging he gave her sexually transmitted diseases that ruined her life.  I just heard about this on the Today Show with Kathy Lee and Hoda.

According to the New York Post - In papers filed in state Supreme Court, Stephanie Lerner said she was infected with "several severe incurable strains of the human papilloma virus" as a result of the affairs conducted by her husband, Mark, a venture capitalist.

Stephanie, an author and former television producer, said her condition got so bad, she had to undergo several operations.

The Lerners were married in 1991, and she first learned her husband was unfaithful in 1996, when she contracted a sexually transmitted disease, trichomoniasis, the suit says.  This is what gets me -- she already knew he was a cheat and had already given her an STD, because of this fact, I would say she will not win the $25 million she is seeking.

My first thought was that I wouldn't sue him (I think we have become a 'sue' happy nation), but I most definitely would leave him.  I would possibly enact some sort of revenge...not sure what though.

I mean if the man I am married cheats on me and brings home an std -- I'm not going to be too happy about it.  So in this vain, what would you do if your husband gave you an STD?

Confessions Of A Waiter - ‘Waiter Rant’: How To Avoid Spit In Your Food

Thursday, 31 July 2008

Waiter Rant is the name of the book by Steve Dublanica, a.k.a. The Waiter.  The books is an account of what is really cooking in restaurants.  This morning, July 31, 2008, The Waiter appeared on the Today Show.

The thing that bothers me about this book and Steve Dublanica's publicity touring on the talk shows, is how they say 'be nice to your waiters' or 'leave good tips', because if you don't they are going to do bad (perhaps nasty) things to your food.

He says, "that if a customer is rude or talks on their cell phone the waiter or waitress doing something to a customer's food is justified."  I'm sorry but even though talking on a cell phone is one of my pet peeves, it by no means justifies a waiter spitting on my food or whatever that waiter decides he wants to do for revenge.

He says he even passed gas near a customer's table.  He also claims that he never spit in a customer's food...for some reason I don't believe him.

Okay here is MY rant:  What happened to 'customers are always right' and 'the customer comes first' and 'service with a smile'?  We go to a restaurant spend our hard earned money on a meal ( which is getting higher and higher ) and leave at least a 15% tip (personally we leave a tip even when the service has been poor).

Now I by no means suggest that 'we' should be rude and disrespectful to waiters and waitresses.  The have a tough job!  But I remember when businesses catered to the consumer.  So when did things change?  Now we the customer not only pay for the goods and services we receive but have to cater to the businesses.  The role seems to have been reversed.  The consumers are paying their salaries, right?

You can go to the Today Show web site and read an excerpt from his book.

I have never been anything but polite to waiters and waitress, and have experienced poor service on many occasions.  And I'm sure that they (waiters)do experience rude customers from time to time...but are the days of 'the customers always right' gone?  I would love to hear what you think on this subject.  I hope to hear from you!

Water May Be The Cause Of Salmonella

Wednesday, 30 July 2008

The cause of the recent Salmonella outbreak my have been the irrigation water that was used in watering serrano peppers ( serrano peppers are a variety of chili pepper similar to the jalapeno but hotter ) at a Mexican farm.

The people made sick by a strain called "Salmonella Saintpaul" were found in 43 states, the District of Columbia and Canada. At least 242 have been hospitalized, although federal health officials say only the elderly, infants and people with weakened immune system need to avoid raw peppers from Mexico.

Earlier, the FDA announced it had discovered salmonella on a jalapeño imported from Mexico at The Agricola Zarigosa produce distribution center in McAllen, Texas.

Initially, tomatoes seemed the most likely source of the outbreak. The FDA told consumers to avoid certain raw tomatoes on June 7, prompting grocery chains and some restaurants nationwide to stop offering them.  Likewise, no one should eat raw serrano peppers from Mexico, Herndon said.

They however, still can't rule out tomatoes.

Whether it is from the peppers or tomatoes they say the contaminated water  is the most promising lead they have had.

You can go to the CDC, Centers for Disease Control, web site to learn about salmonella and its symptoms.

It is scary when it isn't safe to eat fruits and vegetables.
