I'm Donna Chaffins, a forty-something wife and mother of one amazingly smart (I am his mommy) and funny six year old boy, named Cody. My husband is the smartest, funniest (okay, now you see who my son takes it after) self-proclaimed nerd. Oh, did I mention my son is handsome? That he gets from me. :) We live in Knoxville, TN near the Smokey Mountains... where you'll find us hiking many weekends when the weather is nice.
I have a B.S. in Education but wanted to be able to be a stay at home mom and have been fortunate enough to do just that. I thought long and hard about home-schooling my son and we decided because of his (and my) personality, it would be best for him to attend public school. This was made easy because the school we are zoned in is one of the best in the state. I work from one to three days a week in my son's class - and feel extremely blessed that I am afforded this opportunity. There is not a day that goes by that I am not thankful for this. My son has the most amazing teacher; we could not have asked for a better first school experience!
I am just like YOU! I want to be loved and respected. I want to be the best wife and mother I can be. I'm trying my best to raise my little man to grow into a man who is kind, intelligent and who respects women, as well as a man who can cook, clean up after himself and puts the toilet seat down when he is finished in the bathroom. Wish me luck on this one... I need it.
I kind of fell into blogging ... by accident. And it has changed my life! Blog by Donna - is a blog primarily for women. I write about parenting, work at home topics, education, fitness and health, what's on TV and everything in between. It is my outlet and my way of helping other women. I am a BIG proponent of supporting women. We need to help each other and build each other up. Sadly, I've seen way too many times that other women can be our worst enemies. So here at Blog by Donna you will find all the support I can give.
I have made some great online friends that seriously ROCK! I especially want to thank Amy, Bridget, David, Pat, Michael and a dozen or so more that have helped me grow and learn and well... get to where I am today.

I am both a tomboy and a girly girl. I love to hunt frogs and turtles and dig in the dirt with my bare hands. I love dressing up and being feminine. I am part geek part tech illiterate. I know - I am an anomaly!
I was 10 years old before I learned to ride a bike but I was walking at 9 months. :) I love Italian food and seafood and liver and onions.
My favorite shows are 24, Battlestar Galatica, Lost and Heroes as well as American Idol, Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy. I love comedies, thriller/horror, action/adventures and dramas.
I love writing, reading, hiking, dancing and of course, blogging.
