DoSomething.org, is an  organization that empowers teens to take action in their communities.

At Do Something they encourage young people to create their own vision for making a difference in their community by providing resources and support.

From the www.dosomething.org web site, their mission statements says:

We believe young people have the power to make a difference. It is our aim to inspire, support and celebrate a generation of do-ers: people who see the need to do something, believe in their ability to get it done, and then take action.

Our website is a community where young people learn, listen, speak, vote, volunteer, ask, and take action to make the world a better place. Currently, only 23% of this generation actively volunteers. Our hope is to create a do something generation: a world where more than 51% of young people are involved with community action.

Only a hand full of states are using Do Something at this time but hopefully every community in every state will soon join in.

We hear of all the bad things teenagers do but I think we have far more brilliant, gifted and good kids out there, doing wonderfully kind things. You can see them in action at DoSomething.org.

You can check out how American Idol winner Jordin Sparks is teaming up with Staples to supply needy children with school supplies; and how you or your child can do something similar in your community.

If you or a child in your life is looking for charities to support or maybe you want to start a project in your community to help those less fortunate go to dosomething.org today.
