Two of my favorite things are reading and taking long relaxing baths. When I can do both of these things at the same time... heaven. Did you know there was a National Reading in the Bathtub Day? Well, there is. Today, February 9, 2012, is National Reading in the Bathtub Day!
This isn't the first zany and/or obscure holiday I've written about. I'm intriqued by offbeat holidays. And a reading in the bathtub day, is a holiday I can get behind.
I wish I could spend all day reading in the tub tomorrow. Alas, I have to work and tend to my family and home. However, my hubby is going to take care of Cody while I have at least an hour to read while I take a bath tonight.
Tips For Reading In The Bathtub
- Get a bathtub caddy with a book support like this Bamboo and Chrome Bathtub Caddy. This one also has a wine glass holder.
- Keep a hand towel close by to dry your hands when you need to.
-
Never read a book that is valuable (financially or sentimentally) to you, or a library book. Accidents do happen. You don't want to drop a book into the tub and ruin it.
Will you be joining me? No, not in my tub with me... I think that would be a whole other type of zany holiday. lol. But will you be reading in YOUR bathtub, today? I encourage you to do so. C'mon, it's one of life's simple pleasures - don't deny yourself. If you don't have a book, maybe you could read your favorite magazine.
What will I be reading, you ask? Okay, maybe you didn't ask... but for those inquiring minds -- I'll be reading, Odd Thomas, by Dean Koontz. Something completely for pleasure.
